Another year, another great Atlassian Team expo, formerly known as Summit, is officially over. Decadis was once again a sponsor of the expo and sent five colleagues to the United States - Thorsten Letschert, Dave Wünsch, Julian Riedinger and Michele Toscani from the German headquarters, as well as Sergio del Pino Domínguez from our Spanish office in Seville.

In order to adjust to the 9-hour time difference from Germany/Spain to Las Vegas, we arrived on Friday, a few days before Expo week. During this time, we came together as a team and coordinated our resources.

Pre-Team'23 – Events leading up to the event

On Sunday evening, the first partner invited the team to their networking event in one of the restaurants of the Venetian Hotel. K15t organized this venue to meet partners from all over the world. Finger food and drinks were a great catering option to get into conversation with partners you either only see digitally or have never met before. A great start to the week and an icebreaker for the deeper conversations to come. And as I've said before, the Venetian setting was really beautiful, but can't be compared to the real thing. Here are some impressions of the night:

Monday was the first full day of the, let's call it, "pre-Team'23" schedule. It started with the Seibert Media Info Session, an event for both partners and customers. As a platinum sponsor, we had the unique opportunity to present two individual topics on stage and have a table to present our apps in one of the rooms.

Thorsten was the very first speaker on stage, focusing on our flagship app Jira Workflow Toolbox. In his 15-minute time slot, he had the audience in awe of his presentation: "Design your processes - let Jira do the rest. Jira workflow customization made easy". His focus was to highlight the importance of workflows within Jira and showed some prime use cases of how JWT enhances the customization of workflows to individual specifications and needs.

After lunch, it was time for Dave and Michele to take the stage and present "The Art of Administration - Empowering Jira & Confluence Administrators to succeed in their daily challenges". As some of you may have noticed, their storytelling approach was inspired by Sun Tzu and his famous book, The Art of War. The enemies of Jira & Confluence that they "fought" in the talk were time sinks. The provided solutions were based on our Decadis apps Admin Toolbox for Jira, Space Tools Pro for Confluence, and Space Admin for Confluence.

Here are just a few impressions of our talks. The professional video will be released by Seibert Media in the next few days.

The evening was once again packed full of appointments with our partners. Easy Agile booked a unique location, a top golf course. They invited us as a partner to network in an open environment. It was a great opportunity to network with several partners as well as well-known Atlassian community leaders from around the world. Sidenote: If we send another group to Team'24 next year, I'd suggest having a golf session in Germany first, as our swings weren't as professional as you might see on the PGA Tour 😄.

Thorsten and Julian attended the Seibert Media Info Session after party to represent Decadis at different locations. At Area15, they peered through the veil between reality and ultimate possibilities. VR or sensory immersions, zip line races or zombie hunts are just a few of the exciting attractions on offer there.

Team'23 finally opens its doors!

Tuesday kicked off with two great events, Partner Accelerate, and the Atlassian Community Leader Workshop. Partner Accelerate is a gathering of Atlassian partners from Silver to Platinum. It is an Atlassian-created opportunity to learn about what is new in the Atlassian ecosystem and what is new in digital marketing, sales, and customer success.

The Atlassian Community Leader Workshop is a companion event to Partner Accelerate but designed for Atlassian Community Leaders from around the world. Approximately 200 Community Leaders had the opportunity to learn from each other and discover how other chapters are addressing issues that can arise within an Atlassian community. We also had some great speakers on stage, including Cameron Deatsch (Chief Revenue Officer at Atlassian) and Mark Cruth (who presented "What Makes a Team Legendary").

In the afternoon, the moment we had all been waiting for finally arrived: The doors to Team'23 opened! The room quickly filled with Atlassian customers, and the first conversations began. People were interested to hear how our monsters for Jira and Confluence, such as the Jira Workflow Toolbox, Admin Toolbox for Jira, Space Tools Pro for Confluence, Smart Fields for Jira, or Space Admin for Confluence, could help them in their work with Atlassian products.

On Wednesday and Thursday, we all had one focus and one focus only - our booth #39 in the Venetian Expo Hall. During these two days, we had the opportunity to talk to many different attendees who only had Atlassian, Jira, and Confluence on their minds.

We split our booth time within our group of 5 to have time to go to the keynotes and learn all about new developments in the Atlassian ecosystem, such as Atlassian AI, Confluence Whiteboards, Analytics, and so much more that would go beyond the scope of this blog post. But rest assured, there will be an update with more information on new developments! Our Marketplace team received the ultimate accolade: during the Atlassian CEOs' and President's keynote on new and upcoming features, our sumUp for Jira app was featured in conjunction with the new Security and Privacy tab in the Atlassian Marketplace! Watch the recording now for free: Impossible Alone: Charting a new era of teamwork.

A highlight for both customers and sponsors was the opening keynote with Scott Faruqah and James Cameron. The co-founder and co-CEO of Atlassian interviewed one of the world's most famous filmmakers, James Cameron. They talked about a variety of topics, including modern corporate culture, team building, overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and protecting the environment. Fun fact: Did you know that James Cameron is one of only four men to have traveled to the deepest point in the ocean, the Mariana Trench?

Friday was "already" our departure day back to Germany/Spain. Team'23 was a fascinating experience for all of us. We had a great and very productive week at the largest Atlassian convention in the world, including all the events before the expo itself. One thing we learned for sure is that we're on the right track with our apps and services! It was great to see the amazed faces at the functionality of our apps during the talks and conversations at our booth.

We hope you enjoyed reading about what we learned while working at the Atlassian Team'23 convention. Thank you very much for your time.

Best regards
Michele, Julian, Dave, Thorsten and Sergio
